Betty Camhi has a degree in psychology from the City College of New York and worked in the San Francisco Bay area as a private and public school teacher in the field of special education, dealing particularly with children with learning disabilities. Prior to serving as Sunyata’s secretary and chauffeur, she was involved in Sufism. She has also co-edited another book of Sunyata’s writings: Dancing with the Void, originally published in 2001 by Blue Dove Press and re-published in 2015 by Non-Duality Press. She lived for many years in Medford and then Ashland in Oregon, and currently resides in Petaluma, California.
Elliott Isenberg spent seven years, from 1966, living and travelling in Europe, Africa and Asia, and in March 1973, he met his guru, Neem Karoli Baba, in Vrindavan, India. He obtained a BA at Amherst College and a Masters at the London School of Economics, after which he went on to complete a doctorate in psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies. His dissertation for the doctorate, completed in 1983, was entitled The Experience of Evil: A Phenomenological Approach. Elliott currently resides in the Mission District of San Francisco where he works in private practice as a transpersonal psychotherapist.
